Northern Norway, March - Part 2 (Senja)

Image
A few vertical frames from our trip in Northern Norway, this time the second stretch of our trip, moving through different spots in Senja. Our trip continued in Senja, where the weather was much harsher. It rained most of the time, with strong winds and gales that made shooting along the coast a challenge, but also gave the landscape a far more dramatic feel.  Nikkor Z 14-30 mm;  f/9 ; 28 mm; 20 Sec; ISO 100 First evening in Senja. At Fjordbotn, the background is dominated by peaks reflecting in the fjord and dramatic clouds announcing the next day’s rain. The foreground element made the scene even more powerful: a fallen trunk, half claimed by ice, is resting at the edge of the fjord. Nikkor Z 14-30 mm;  f/10 ; 30 mm; 8 Sec; ISO 100 At Devil’s Teeth, heavy clouds roll in, strong gales send water spray into the air, and a rare break in the clouds gives the crashing waves a brief dose of sunlight. ...

Northern Norway, March - Part 1 (Tromsø area)

Image
A few vertical frames from the first stretch of our trip, moving through different spots around Tromsø. The trip started with Northern Lights right in Tromsø on the first night - strong activity and fast movement across the entire sky. Samyang 14 mm;  f/2.8; 14 mm; 3 Sec; ISO 3200 Earlier that same day we visited the Grotfjord. This is a typical winter landscape in these parts of Norway: beautiful shaped mountain peaks,  frozen details on the ground and  soft light with dark clouds. Two frames showing the same peak, different foreground and a slight change in the light. Nikkor Z 14-30 mm;  f/10 ; 15 mm; 1/15 Sec; ISO 100 Nikkor Z 14-30 mm;  f/10 ; 14 mm; 1/50 Sec; ISO 100 A frozen lake near Tromsø, with lots of textures and shapes in the ice and snow. We spent quite some time in this beautiful spot before the Northern Lights show later that night. Nikkor Z 14-30 mm;  f/10 ; 18 mm; 1/50 Sec; ISO 100 Nikkor Z 14-30 mm; ...

Stillness vs. Chaos - Same place, same hour, two different stories

Image
Nikkor Z 14-30 mm f/10 S; 30 mm; 8 Sec; ISO 100 Nikkor Z 14-30 mm f/10 S; 30 mm; 1/20 Sec; ISO 100 These two shots were taken in Senja on the same day and spot, less than an hour apart. The composition is similar, but the conditions, and the results, were completely different. In the first image, I used a slow shutter speed to smooth out the water and the sky, which gives it a calmer, quieter feel. In the second image, I wanted to capture the tension and the motion, so I switched to a faster shutter speed and caught the waves mid-impact, which makes everything feel much more intense an chaotic. What changed wasn't just the composition, but also the feeling. We spent our days on this beautiful island under storm-heavy skies, with dramatic clouds with small patches for the light to go through, bursts of rain and snow, relentless wind, and gales that kept us on the edge. I even managed to soak my feet m...

Cinque Torri, One Clear Afternoon in the Dolomites

Image
Nikkor Z 14-30 mm f/4 S; 18 mm; 0,3 Sec; ISO 100 Our visit to Cinque Torri in the Dolomites was perfectly timed. After few days with fog that hid the mountains, the afternoon welcomed us with clear skies and warm light. It was almost too perfect! A few more clouds to catch some dramatic sunset colours wouldn’t have hurt, but the conditions were still ideal for photography, bathing the landscape in soft tones and contrast. Tamron 70-200 mm f/2.8; 75 mm; 0,5 Sec; ISO 100 We started walking uphill from the rifugio, and after about thirty minutes, the landscape slowly revealed itself. There wasn’t a single “wow” moment at first — just a gradual opening, as if the mountains were allowing us in. Then suddenly, everywhere I looked, there were peaks. Sharp, dramatic, and unmistakably Dolomitic. Formed over time by wind, weather, and patience, they stood quietly around us, completely unaware of how impressive they are. ...

Autumn Mountain Moods

Image
All images were taken near Fie' Allo Sciliar - Ums  On the banks of the Rio Sciliar lies a small hamlet known as Umes (Ums). With beautiful farmhouses and a church built at its centre, the hamlet welcomes visitors to breathe in the clean air and experience life at higher altitudes. The views from the hamlet are absolutely beautiful. The changing foliage and low clouds make the landscape feel surreal and encourage you to explore the area and get to know its inhabitants. I was lucky to meet a few horses, cows, sheep, and a cute dog. In this place, time moves slowly, inviting you to slow down as well and take in the landscape. It’s a place that leaves a mark on every soul, making it almost impossible to leave.

Wandering Through Color and Curves at Park Güell

Image
Visiting Park Güell feels like walking into a storybook version of Barcelona and during the Christmas even more. Located on a hillside in the Gracia district, the park offers beautiful views over the city and the sea beyond, but it’s Gaudi’s playful and colourful architecture that truly makes the visit unforgettable. From the moment I stepped inside the park, everything felt joyful, imaginative, and completely unlike a traditional park. Antoni Gaudi  originally designed Park Güell between  1900 and 1914  as part of a failed residential development. Although the housing project never took off, what remains today is one of the most iconic public spaces in the city and another  UNESCO World Heritage Site . Gaudi’s love for nature is everywhere: columns resemble t...

Getting Lost in Gaudi's Imagination at La Pedrera

Image
Visiting  La Pedrera , also known as  Casa  Milà, was one of those moments in Barcelona where I had to stop, look up, and just smile. Standing on  Passeig de Gracia , the building barely looks real. Its curvy stone facade feels more like a living organism than apartment building, and the wrought-iron balconies twist and curl as if they were grown, not built. La Pedrera was designed by  Antoni Gaudi between 1906 and 1912 , and walking through it, I could really feel how far ahead of his time he was. There are almost no straight lines anywhere. Instead, everything flows naturally, inspired by shapes found in nature.  There are two open courtyards designed to bring light and air into every apartment.  The rooftop was the highlight for me. From the panoramic views of Barcelona t...
