Lens & Light

  A few vertical frames from the first stretch of our trip, moving through different spots around Tromsø. The trip started with Northern Lights right in Tromsø on the first night - strong activity and fast movement across the entire sky. This is a typical winter landscape in these parts of Norway: beautiful shaped mountain peaks,  frozen details on the ground and  soft light with dark clouds. The composition is similar, but the conditions, and the results, were completely different. In the first image, I used a slow shutter speed to smooth out the water and the sky, which gives it a calmer, quieter feel. In the second image, I wanted to capture the tension and the motion, so I switched to a faster shutter speed and caught the waves mid-impact, which makes everything feel much more intense an chaotic. What changed wasn't just the composition, but also the feeling. We spent our days on this beautiful island under storm-heavy skies, with dramatic clouds with small patches for the light to go through, bursts of rain and snow, relentless wind, and gales that kept us on the edge.
