Stillness vs. Chaos - Same place, same hour, two different stories
These two shots were taken in Senja on the same day and spot, less than an hour apart.
The composition is similar, but the conditions, and the results, were completely different. In the first image, I used a slow shutter speed to smooth out the water and the sky, which gives it a calmer, quieter feel. In the second image, I wanted to capture the tension and the motion, so I switched to a faster shutter speed and caught the waves mid-impact, which makes everything feel much more intense an chaotic.
What changed wasn't just the composition, but also the feeling. We spent our days on this beautiful island under storm-heavy skies, with dramatic clouds with small patches for the light to go through, bursts of rain and snow, relentless wind, and gales that kept us on the edge.
I even managed to soak my feet more than once while shooting at Tungeneset, despite keeping what I thought was a safe distance, high up on the rocks. Although the conditions on the island were far from perfect - no light or beautiful colours - it still managed to leave a last-standing impression.
